‘Marimayam’ wins ‘Best Comedy Program’ yet again; ‘No daily soap worthy enough for an award,’ says jury

Kerala State TV awards 2020 were declared by Minister of Culture, Saji Cheriyan on Wednesday (September 1). Chakkappazham actress Aswathy Sreekanth has bagged the best actress award and actor Sivaji Gurauvayoor was announced as the best actor for his performance in the popular serial ‘Kadhayariyathe’. The jury lauded the acting prowess of the duo.

Interestingly, sitcom ‘Marimayam’ has bagged the best comedy program award for the 5th time consecutively. Comedian Salim Hassan has received a special mention from the jury for his avatars in the same show.

Chakkappzham’s Sumesh aka Rafi is declared as the second-best hero and Shalu Kurian gets the second-best actress award for the show ‘Aksharathettu’. Also, Actress Reshmi is announced as the best comedian.

In the non-fiction category, Swasika Vijay-hosted celebrity show ‘Red Carpet’ has begged the best show award. On the other hand, no show managed to win the best teleserial award as the jury commented that no TV serials were worthy enough for the recognition.
