There will be plenty of rainfall for the state in the next few days. Orange alerts for very heavy rainfall of 11-20cm in five districts, including Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki, have been issued for Sunday and Monday.
Yellow alerts for Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram on these days. IMD said that this is due to the influence of the low-pressure area over Sri Lanka off the Tamil Nadu coast and the associated cyclonic circulation that extends up to 3.1km above mean sea level.
It is likely to move slowly westwards during the next 3-4 days. On Tuesday, orange alerts have been issued for Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Wayanad. Squally weather with wind speed reaching 40-50kmph is likely to prevail along and off the Kerala coast and over the Lakshadweep area.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into sea till Nov 3. The same warning stands for open seas also, especially the southeast Arabian Sea and Maldives. Skymet weather said that Tamil Nadu and Kerala are the rainiest pockets this season
