India has reported 28,326 daily new Covid-19 cases and 260 deaths in the last 24 hours, according to health ministry’s updated bulletin at 9:30 am.
Out of the total daily new cases and deaths – 16,671 cases and 120 deaths were reported from Kerala, yesterday. The total cases and deaths have jumped to 3,36,52,745 and 4,46,918 respectively, the health ministry’s bulletin stated. India recorded 26,032 recoveries in the last 24 hours, this as the recovery rate improved to 97.77 per cent, the health ministry added in its official release.
Total recoveries now stand at 3,29,02,351. The case fatality rate was recorded at 1.33 per cent. While the daily new cases reported on Sunday were less than than Saturday, India’s active caseload increased to 3,03,476. An increase of 2,034 cases has been recorded in the active Covid-19 caseload in a span of 24 hours. Active cases now account for less than 1 per cent of total cases – and currently stand at 0.90%. Weekly positivity rate was recorded at 1.98 per cent. It has been below 3 per cent for the last 93 days, according to the health ministry.
The daily positivity rate was recorded at 1.90 per cent. It has been less than 3 per cent for last 27 days. India crossed the grim milestone of two crore on May 4 and three crore on June 23. Meanwhile, a total of 56.32 crore samples have been tested for Covid-19 in the country so far. Vaccination update — India’s cumulative vaccination coverage crossed the landmark of 85 crore (85,60,81,527), with more than 68.42 lakh doses being administered in the last 24 hours.
